Debris Update and Burn Ban lifted in Jackson County

Hurricane Michael hit almost 8 months ago and the Panhandle is working daily to clean up. The first round of debris cleanup ended over a month ago. Yesterday Jackson County released the new plan for the final debris pickup. Be sure to read all the rules and regulations on the blue flyer. If you have any questions about debris you can email them to: debris@jacksoncountyfl.com

The Florida Forest Service, Chipola Forestry Center, is issuing burn authorizations for Bay, Gulf, Calhoun, and Jackson Counties. Burn restrictions have been lifted in those counties due to substantial amounts of rain we have received in the last few days. Residents who plan to burn vegetative debris do not need a burn authorization as long as:
~The pile is less than 8 feet in diameter,
~You meet the required setbacks, and
~There are no local, city or county ordinances in place that prohibit burning.

Those needing a burn authorization or more information please go to the website below.
