This weekend, September 3rd-4th, is the Florida Scallop, Music & Arts Festival. Celebrate Labor Day weekend by enjoying freshly harvested St. Joseph’s Bay scallops while enjoying live music. The event will be held at George Core Park in Port St. Joe starting at noon. This two-day festival includes American Blonde, Tiger County Regulators, Sauce Boss, and The Josh Garrett Band. One-day passes cost $15/per person while a two-day pass is $25/per person. Please note that kids under 12 get in for free. Halisi Africa: Boutique & Cafe
Halisi Africa opened in September of 2019 as a boutique and added a Zanzibar Bar in 2020. Located at 1002 Commercial Drive in the Tallahassee Art District, the shop offers a relaxed “shop-and-sip” style for customers that includes clothes, food, and music. Co-owners Vanessa Byrd and Bryant Shaw wanted to encourage customers to experience authentic African customs.
The café and boutique is divided into two sections. The entrance opens to the boutique which features clothing, jewelry, books, and more related to African diaspora. The boutique area also has a few chairs and tables for those guests who want to lounge while they shop. The café offers limited seating for those customers who want to dine in.
AmVets Post 178 Community Yard Sale
AmVets Post 178 is opening its yard to the community today from 8 am – 5 pm at 4776 Highway 90 W in Defuniak Springs. There will be yard sellers, craft vendors, and food trucks. The community yard sale is free, and public restrooms will be available.
Caribe Family Festival
This Saturday from 12pm – 6pm, the FAMU Way Market Area will be hosting Caribé! Also called A Festival of Colors, this event celebrates the history, culture, music, and folklife of the Caribbean islands. Guests are encouraged to express their creativity by creating and wearing masks and costumes for the parade. The event is FREE and will feature a parade in which guests are allowed to partake in, music, dance, food, performances, vendors, displays, and more!
Featured performers include: DJ RRane, Gyasi Clarke, The Forgotten Coast Dancers, DJ Dean, Excellence Dance Studio, Breanna Jade, DJ Zoe, Miriam Watkins & the Tallahassee Salsa Dancers from Studio D, Elio Delgado, DJ Ju, Lion Steel Band from Leon High School, DJ Vizyon, and DJ Stan Man. It is being produced by the Tallahassee-St. Maarten Foundation with partial funding from Leon County/Visit Tallahassee.
Mushroom Plant Pal Class
Gypsybeach Treasured Kreations is hosting a Mushroom Plant Pal class this month. It is a two-part class with the first portion taking place on August 18th and the second on August 25th. The first class will focus on clay sculpting while planting will take place during the second class. Both courses will be from 4-5 pm. The class is only $25 for both sessions! Grape Harvest Festival
The 2022 Annual Grape Harvest Festival is coming to the FAMU Center for Viticulture and Small Fruit Research on August 20th! From 8 am to 4 pm, the festival will be bustling with family, food, fun, and agricultural discovery. FAMU is a national leader in viticulture research, and this festival is meant to celebrate both FAMU and the surrounding community.
There will be a vineyard trailer ride, grape and wine sampling, grape stomping contest, water slides, a grape throwing competition, a hula hoop competition, live entertainment, fun vineyard run and walk-a-thon, grape picking, a health fair, and more than 60 community exhibitors and vendors! Onsite general admission is $10/person; children under 12 years of age and FAMU students (with valid ID) are free. Non-FAMU students will receive a 50% discount while seniors (65+) will receive a 20% discount. Parking is located off-site at the “Antique Car Museum” located at 6800 Mahan Drive. Parking will open at 7:30 am on the day of the event. A complimentary bus shuttle to the festival grounds will be provided on a 10–15min schedule.
Farm, Garden & Craft Swap
Mid-South Lumber Co is hosting its first Farm, Garden & Craft Swap on Saturday, August 6th. The event is FREE and will go from 8 am – 2 pm. Tex Kitchen will have a food truck on site. There will be additional food vendors and a variety of local vendors including but not limited to Jonesing 4 Cookies, Coastal Crafts, Tina Parrish’s canned goods, Southern Glitter Girls, Beachside Bakery, Wolf Feather Works, Sandhills Native Nursery, and more! Wausau Possum Festival
The Wausau Possum Festival is coming to Washington County on August 6th! This unique festival was founded by Dalton Carter over 50 years ago to celebrate the possum. Friday night will kick things off with Cory Keefe & the Hwy 20 Band performing beginning at 6 pm. Following their opening, the Possum King & Queen Contest will begin at 7 pm. There will be a gate fee of $5 for the evening (children 16 and younger enter for free).
Saturday will begin with a pancake breakfast provided by the Masonic Lodge from 6-9 am. The breakfast will be followed by the Possum Trot 5K Run/Walk at 7 am. A parade through downtown will begin at 10 am. After the conclusion of the parade, there will be a variety of things to do at the Possum Palace including pony rides, inflatables, arts and craft vendors, great food, games, and live entertainment. Veg Out Food Festival
The Veg Out Food Festival is happening this weekend, Saturday, July 16th from 12 – 8 pm. The event is free to the public and f local artisans and restaurants. Veg Out Food Festival includes music, vegan and vegetarian eats, local crafters, local growers, and more. Held by The Fuzzy Pineapple at 1205 S. Adams Street, it is a family and pet-friendly event. Please note that there will be limited parking at the event location; however, roadside parking will be within a few blocks by walking, biking, or bus. Come out for a pleasant afternoon of fun, art, and food!

Marianna Farmers Market & Family Fun
The annual Melons in the Park is coming to the Marianna City Farmers Market this Saturday, June 25th! Alongside the traditional wares offered at the weekly farmers market, the event will have kids’ activities, raffles, and more vendors than usual. The raffle includes a craft basket and a food basket, both worth $100 with a ticket price of only $1! The kids’ activities include face painting, door prizes, a seed spitting contest, and a coloring tent.
