The Apalachicola Margaret Key Public Library is hosting a Summer Music Series on select dates from June to July. The series will be held at the library on Fridays from 6-8 PM. Sunshine State Games
The Sunshine State Games features 30 different sporting competitions and has been operating for 40 years! Amateur athletes of all ages and skill levels compete in this multi-sport festival. Most competitions are held in various venues throughout the state from May 20th through June 25th. Competitions are to be held as follows in North Florida: Swimming (June 3-5, Gainesville), Artistic Swimming (June 3-5, Lakeland), Pickleball (June 10-12, Green Cove Springs), Canoe/Kayak Marathon (June 12, Middleburg), Taekwondo (June 17-19, Winter Haven), and Fencing (June 25-26, Alachua).

Marianna Community Calendar 2023
The Pilot Club of Marianna is taking orders for the 2023 Community Calendar until June 15. The calendar will include anniversaries, memorial dates, and birthdays of community members listed. Proceeds from the calendar fundraiser will support Pilot Club projects such as a nursing scholarship at Chipola College, the Jackson County Backpack for Kids food program, JCARC, Meals on Wheels, the Autism Resource Center, and CACL School.

Local Artist Spotlight
Morgan Summers is a local muralist based in Lynn Haven. Summers currently splits her time between client-directed work, creating content, and working on her passion project Small Town Walls. You may have seen her murals at local favorites such as the Bay Arts Alliance, The Lovely Project, UCF Downtown, Modern Orthodontics of Clermont, and more. In a recent article, she stated that she has “been pleasantly surprised that if I could just do a good job at what I do, people seem to enjoy it.”(1)

North Florida Wildflower Festival
The North Florida Wildflower Festival is this Saturday, April 30th! The festival will be held in downtown Blountstown; this includes Magnolia Square, the M&B Train Depot Museum & Park, and the Blountstown Greenway bike trail. The North Florida Wildflower Festival is an annual event run by the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, Florida Wildflower Foundation, Florida Panhandle Wildflower Alliance, University of Florida IFAS, RiverWay South Choctawhatchee Apalachicola, and Blountstown Main Street. The festival will feature wildflower and gardening-themed products, plants, arts and crafts, and kids’ activities.

Carrabelle Riverfront Festival
The 31st Annual Carrabelle Riverfront Festival in Carrabelle, FL is this weekend, April 23rd! Come out this Saturday from 10 am – 6 pm for a full day of family-friendly activities. Admission to the festival is FREE; it is a family and pet-friendly event, so bring out the whole family. The festival will have live music, entertainment, arts & crafts vendors, food vendors, and more. The event is held along the beautiful, historic waterfront and includes admission to some local museums. Additionally, the popular children’s events Captain Davy’s Adventure Show, mini-train rides, and bouncy house are back this year.

Chain of Parks Art Festival
The Chain of Parks Art Festival returns Saturday, April 23, and Sunday, April 24. The festival is held across the Bloxham, Lewis, and Randolph “chain of parks” in downtown Tallahassee. Attendees can view and purchase art from 150 carefully selected fine artists. There will also be a number of highlighted events including:
- “The Village,” which features children’s art programs for young guests to participate in pop-up studios and make crafts
- A Saturday Evening Groove, featuring Tallahassee Night Live from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23
- A scavenger hunt, which will award the first 100 guests who complete the “festival passport” to win a prize
- Four professional chalk artists from across the country who will create 3D chalk art for photo ops
- A juried competition in which winning artists vie for $10,000 in awards
- A live reenactment of Jacques Le Moyne in his French encampment
In celebration of Earth Day and through a longtime partnership with Sustainable Tallahassee, the festival will focus on four sustainability initiatives — education, reducing Styrofoam, reducing landfill waste, and reducing food waste. Festival hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, April 23, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, April 24.

Operation Egg Drop: Bonifay, FL
Operation Egg Drop is this Saturday! Held at No Place Like Holmes Farm, this special Easter event starts at 1 pm and goes until 5 pm. There will be local businesses selling wares and providing services. The event will have live entertainment, food trucks, dessert trucks, inflatables, ax throwing, professional Easter Bunny photos, vendors, crafters, and full-size Mining Sluice. The Mobile Zoo crew will be available to help you make your own stuffed animals.
Additionally, there will be games such as giant Jenga, bigfoot blaster, giant checkers, cornhole, giant connect four, and more. Even better, there will be live animals, face painting, and thousands upon thousands of eggs dropped from helicopters! The cost of the ticket includes everything except sluice bags, bigfoot Blaster shots, food trucks, and Zoo Crew products. Tickets are $8 for ages 12 and up, $4 for ages 3-11, and free for under 3.
