Emerald Coast Native Plant Fair

Paradise Plants and Palms is excited to announce that they’re hosting the first-ever Emerald Coast Native Plant Fair! Join them on September 16th from 10am – 4pm EDT. The Fair will be a celebration of all things Florida Native Plants and conservation. There will be a variety of conservation groups, local artisans, native plant sellers/nurseries, and arts-n-crafts vendors. There will also be a food truck! 

Along with arts-n-crafts, native plants, and food for sale, the event will feature free educational classes, wildlife conservation experts, and coastal ecosystem informational services. A complete list of native plant sellers, vendors, and conservation groups listed below:

Mid-South Harbor Farmers Market

Mid-South Harbor Farmers Market is hosting their monthly Farm, Garden, Craft & Animal Swap next Saturday, September 9th from 8AM – 2PM. This is a FREE event for both vendors and the community. Meet with local vendors and creators supplying fresh produce, baked items, canned goods, hand-made arts & crafts, plants, and small animals. Interested in being a vendor? Tallahassee Film Festival 2023

The 15th annual Tallahassee Film Festival is happening September 2-3 at multiple venues downtown and in the Railroad Square arts district. The event will feature over 70 films and scores, over 40 shorts, and a dozen feature films. The fest has partnered with Sunshine State Biodiversity for a curated short film program titled ‘Environment in Focus.’ Visitors can purchase a weekend pass OR tickets for individual screenings. FL Scallop, Music, & Arts Festival

Celebrate Labor Day weekend by feasting on freshly harvested St. Joseph’s Bay scallops with the ambiance of two days of live music. The Florida Scallop, Music, and Arts Festival is happening September 2-3 at George Core Park.

The festival lineup includes John Del Toro Richardson, Memphis Lightning, the Bo Spring Band, Damon Fowler, and more! The festival kicks off the Port St. Joe scallop season which runs from August 16 through September 24. If you have a fishing license, you can dive for your own dinner! Make sure to bring your mask, snorkeling gear, and eagle eyes because most finds are hidden in seagrasses in four to six feet of water.

Taco & Tequila Fest

The annual Jax Taco and Tequila Fest is coming soon! From September 2-3, visit the Metropolitan Park from 3-11pm. The annual event is most famous for its Grand Sampling Experience which includes over 40 craft tequila distillers pouring samples twice each day. Is Tequila not to your taste? The Fest includes two days of live music headlined by Big Boi, Gym Class Heroes, Iration, and Lupe Fiasco. There will also be immersive art performances, complimentary dance lessons, cultural music, and a silent disco party featuring dueling DJS and an immersive light experience. And, of course, tacos! Tallahassee Beer Festival 2023

The 5th annual Tallahassee Beer Festival is next Saturday, August 26th. Held at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, the festival will run from 2-6pm. There will be over 100 homebrewers and breweries taking part in the Festival; they will feature over 300 different fermentations to sample. For those guests who don’t care for beer, there will be ciders, meads, sparking sodas, and wines available.

All guests will receive a souvenir-tasting glass. There will also be a Beer Mile; ambitious guests can register to take part in a one-mile race where participants drink a 12-ounce beer after each quarter-mile loop. Skimboarding Tournament

Come out to Vilano Beach for two full days of skim-boarding heats (Aug. 19-20th). The Florida Skimboarding Pro/Am is the third-longest-running tournament in the world! Some of the world’s best skimboarders come out to enjoy the Atlantic Ocean’s surface during this event. Athletes from more than 75 different beaches from all over Florida, the USA, and the world come for the Florida Pro/Aam. American Vintage Market 2023

American Vintage Markets is returning to Tallahassee this August! Come enjoy the market at the indoor North Florida Fairgrounds; two air-conditioned buildings will be chock full of vendors. The market runs from August 25-26th from 9am-4pm. American Vintage Markets is a curated collection of vendors who bring their best recycled, repurposed, handcrafted, and reimagined treasures. Fort Clinch Candlelight Tour

Amelia Island’s historic Fort Clinch is hosting candlelight tours this August. Fort Clinch has unique architecture that features narrow ‘underground’ passages, spiral staircases, and old bunkhouses. The tour will be led by nothing but candles so you can experience a more accurate, historical atmosphere as you tour the fort with an expert guide.
