Brought to you by the Millstone Institute of Preservation, the Spring Harvest Tour 2025 will take you on a self-guided tour of over 30 different local businesses. Highlighting local producers, growers, and creators through South Georgia and North Florida, the tour will take place May 10th and 11th. 

Many of the featured businesses will be hosting classes, workshops, talks, or other activities throughout the weekend. More information on each participant’s offering can be found in the guidebook. Some highlights include: Allison Acres offering a class on blueberry care, Sandhills Native Nursery offering a Native Harvest talk, Forty Creeks Farms’ Sustainable Gardening Practices talk, and Sweet Magnolia Ridge’s cooking demonstrations – all just a fraction of the offered opportunities!

The Institute recommends that you come prepared: bring a cooler for all your goodies, wear close-toed shoes, bring sunscreen and bug spray, carry cash, and bring plenty of water.

 

2nd Annual Sandhills Celebration

Founded in the Bay County, Sandhills Native Nursery is hosting their 2nd Annual Sandhills Celebration! It’s an event focused on education and conservation taking place on April 12th &13th. Join them for two family-friendly days of scheduled educational talks, local community organizations, animal ambassadors, local artists, food, trails, and more! The event is free to attend but bring cash for art vendors, food and drinks from local cafe Wild Root, plant purchases, and more. Parking is limited, please carpool. 

 

Kays247 New Location

Blountstown’s favorite BBQ restaurant has opened a new location in Marianna. Kays247 is now serving the community at 4527 Lafayette Street. Their current hours are 11am to 7pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Located across from Enterprise Car Rental, this homestyle BBQ restaurant offers both dine-in and take-out. Opossum Claus & Holiday Shopping

Have you met Opossum Claus?!

Tallahassee Native Nursery says “Opossum Claus loves relaxing by the cider station, lounging in the swing, greeting everyone as they enter the gift shop, and taking pictures with people. If he doesn’t talk or move, don’t worry — he’s probably just playing dead.”

Opossum Claus only sticks around until December 24th, when he heads off to help Santa deliver gifts. So come see him while you can! The Nursery also has a gorgeous gift shop called The Wren’s Nest. It offers gardening goods like tools, seeds, fertilizers, and more. Holiday gifts such as ornaments, books, shirts, gift certificates, and more are also available. Visit them to find the perfect gift for the plant lover in your life!

Alice in Wonderland in Altha

Looking for a fun weekend event in or around Altha? Look no further than Womble Farms!

Womble Farms, a local homestead, is hosting a two-day Alice in Wombleland event. The event will run from 4pm-10pm daily on June 21st and 22nd. Follow the White Rabbit down Womble Road for a whimsical evening surrounded by nature. Activities include vendors, plants for sale, a drum and dance circle, fundraiser photo ops, lights, nature trails, music, and more!

Blueberry Season

We’re about halfway through the blueberry season here in Florida. Blueberries have been foraged in North America for more than 13,000 years. Here in Florida, we have FIVE native blueberry varieties and countless cultivars that thrive in our humid, sunny summers. Best of all, blueberries freeze well so you can enjoy them year-round. Visit a local blueberry you-pick farm like Blue Acres Berries to get the most bang for your buck(et)! 2024 North Florida Wildflower Festival

The North Florida Wildflower Festival is held annually on the last Saturday of April in Blountstown, Florida. This year, that means it falls on April 27th. Blountstown is located in the heart of the Panhandle, just an hour from Tallahassee, Panama City, and Dothan, Alabama. Held in the picturesque Magnolia Square and surrounding streets, the event will run from 9am-2pm. 

The festival features over 100 vendors specializing in flowers, plants, garden and outdoor items, handcrafted goods, jewelry, home décor, artwork, apparel, food, and more!

VENDOR REGISTRATION is now open! Apply HERE. The event is coordinated by the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce. 

The Enchanted Fairy Realm in Altha

Located in Altha, Womble Farms is a local up-and-coming flower, animal, and event farm. They are hosting their first event next Saturday, April 20th. When the flowers bloom on Womble Farms, fairies arrive! Come see them before they’re gone and experience a family-fun event!  Admission is only $1! Do bring cash or card for applicable vendors. 

There will be a drum/dance circle (bring your own drum!), a DIY potted fairy garden, food, plants for sale, enchanted selfie stations, vendors, and a costume contest. The costume contest will be held at 7pm. There will be multiple categories organized by age: under 5, 6-12, 12-17, and 18+. Each age category will have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize. Dress up as a gnome, elf, fairy, or mix of all three! The costume contest is for all ages and all genders.

First Ever ASC

Sandhills Native Nursery, based in Fountain, is hosting its first Annual Sandhills Celebration (ASC)! Starting tomorrow, the three-day event will offer community education, kids’ activities, and opportunities to do some DIY activities. There will also be a collection of wares by local artists and snacks/drinks available for purchase from Wild Root. The event will run Thursday (12pm-5pm), Friday (9am-5pm), and Saturday (9am-5pm).
