Wausau Possum Festival

The Wausau Possum Festival is coming to Washington County on August 6th! This unique festival was founded by Dalton Carter over 50 years ago to celebrate the possum. Friday night will kick things off with Cory Keefe & the Hwy 20 Band performing beginning at 6 pm. Following their opening, the Possum King & Queen Contest will begin at 7 pm. There will be a gate fee of $5 for the evening (children 16 and younger enter for free).

Saturday will begin with a pancake breakfast provided by the Masonic Lodge from 6-9 am. The breakfast will be followed by the Possum Trot 5K Run/Walk at 7 am. A parade through downtown will begin at 10 am. After the conclusion of the parade, there will be a variety of things to do at the Possum Palace including pony rides, inflatables, arts and craft vendors, great food, games, and live entertainment. Red, White, and Blues Week

Today is the first day of Red, White, and Blues Week! The week is anticipated to be a patriotic trifecta in Pensacola beach: fireworks, fun, and flying. The Blue Angels will be closing out the Fourth of July holiday weekend with three days of daredevil aerial acrobatics. 

The annual Pensacola Beach Air Show (July 9th) features other high-flying acts and is the culmination of the week’s events. From today to Sunday, catch a series of practices and dress rehearsals. View the schedule by visiting Pensacola Beach’s event webpage here

Greenwood 4th of July

The Town of Greenwood is hosting a 4th of July Celebration on Monday, July 4th. Everyone is welcome, but please have pets on leash. The Opening Ceremony will begin at 10 am in Greenwood Park with fun family activities lasting until the afternoon. There will be free sausage dogs, watermelon, water slides, cool treats, and entertainment. Be sure to bring water and wear sun protection. 

Firework Celebration in Marianna

The City of Marianna and Main Street Marianna are hosting the 12th Annual Fireworks celebration this weekend! The event will be hosted at the MERE Complex on Caverns Road on Sunday, July 3rd.

There will be food vendors, live music, vendors, and kids’ activities. Nashville’s Bryan White and Andy Griggs will be performing this year from 7 – 8:45 pm. There will be local acts opening the show from 5-7 pm. The fireworks show will begin at 8:45 pm from behind the t-ball field on the right side of FCI Road. Summer Music Series in Apalachicola

The Apalachicola Margaret Key Public Library is hosting a Summer Music Series on select dates from June to July. The series will be held at the library on Fridays from 6-8 PM. Concerts in the Park

Today is the kickoff night for Concerts in the Park. Come down to Madison Street Park at 6 pm for food, fun, and music. Bring a blanket or folding chairs to enjoy the Killin’ Time Band while enjoying Lydia’s Mexican Food Truck and The Ice Box. This is the first summer concert being held by Mainstreet Marianna; come out to The Mere on July 3rd and Blue Springs Recreational Park on August 4th. The First Baptist Church of Marianna will be providing children’s entertainment. 

Fernandina Beach Pride

After a two-year hiatus due to Coronavirus, Fernandina Beach will be hosting its second annual Pride Parade and Festival. The event will be held on June 11th from 10 am – 6 pm. Fernandina Beach Pride will kick off with the parade before hosting a plethora of other fun activities. There will be live music, food trucks, arts and crafts vendors, and more! Come down to Central Park, Fernandina for a fantastic day celebrating the local and surrounding LGBTQ+ community!

Fiesta Pensacola

Pensacola’s heritage celebration of the city’s establishment is coming up. The Spanish Conquistador Don Tristan de Luna arrived in what is now Pensacola in 1559. The Fiesta event begins with the Emmanuel Sheppard & Condon Fiesta Days Celebration; local dignitaries surrender the city and its citizens to DeLune and his Queen (June 1). The Fiesta includes other events such as the Grand Fiesta Parade (June 3), Fiesta Boat Parade (June 4), and Fiesta All Krewe Ball (June 9). Both parades feature floats or boats, an appearance by the 2022 Fiesta King and Queen and their “royal” court, and the local Krewes. Pensacola Fiesta occurs from June 1-9th. Carrabelle Riverfront Festival

The 31st Annual Carrabelle Riverfront Festival in Carrabelle, FL is this weekend, April 23rd! Come out this Saturday from 10 am – 6 pm for a full day of family-friendly activities. Admission to the festival is FREE; it is a family and pet-friendly event, so bring out the whole family. The festival will have live music, entertainment, arts & crafts vendors, food vendors, and more. The event is held along the beautiful, historic waterfront and includes admission to some local museums. Additionally, the popular children’s events Captain Davy’s Adventure Show, mini-train rides, and bouncy house are back this year.

Chain of Parks Art Festival

The Chain of Parks Art Festival returns Saturday, April 23, and Sunday, April 24. The festival is held across the Bloxham, Lewis, and Randolph “chain of parks” in downtown Tallahassee. Attendees can view and purchase art from 150 carefully selected fine artists. There will also be a number of highlighted events including:

  • “The Village,” which features children’s art programs for young guests to participate in pop-up studios and make crafts
  • A Saturday Evening Groove, featuring Tallahassee Night Live from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23
  • A scavenger hunt, which will award the first 100 guests who complete the “festival passport” to win a prize
  • Four professional chalk artists from across the country who will create 3D chalk art for photo ops
  • A juried competition in which winning artists vie for $10,000 in awards
  • A live reenactment of Jacques Le Moyne in his French encampment

In celebration of Earth Day and through a longtime partnership with Sustainable Tallahassee, the festival will focus on four sustainability initiatives — education, reducing Styrofoam, reducing landfill waste, and reducing food waste. Festival hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, April 23, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, April 24.
